Medial Biplanar Closing-Wedge Distal Femoral Osteotomy Using an Articulated Tensioning Device for Controlled Osteotomy Closure
نویسندگان
چکیده
Isolated lateral compartment arthritis or focal chondral defects in the setting of genu valgum young, active individuals can be treated with a varus-producing distal femoral osteotomy without cartilage treatment. Both medial closing-wedge and opening-wedge techniques have been described, neither demonstrating clear superiority. The objective this Technical Note is to describe technique biplanar controlled reduction using an articulated tensioning device achieve safe, reproducible result.

Opening- and Closing-Wedge Distal Femoral Osteotomy
BACKGROUND Lateral compartment osteoarthritis of the knee can be a challenging pathology in the younger, active population due to limited treatment options and high patient expectations. Distal femoral osteotomy (DFO) has been reported to be a potential treatment option. PURPOSE To perform a systematic review on the survival, outcomes, and complications of DFO for treatment of genu valgum wit...
متن کاملDistal femoral medial closing wedge osteotomy for degenerative valgus knee : mid-term results in active patients.
Distal femoral medial closing wedge osteotomy (DFMCWO) may be a valuable treatment for arthritic valgus knees in young and active adults, with the possible aim of procrastinating knee replacement. 32 valgus knees (mean age : 41.4±11.2) treated with DFMCWO were retrospectively reviewed. All the knees had a lateral compartment osteoarthritis graded I-II-III according to Kellgren Lawrence classifi...

Distal femoral varus osteotomy is a well-established procedure for the treatment of lateral compartment cartilage lesions and degenerative disease, correcting limb alignment and decreasing the progression of the pathology. Surgical techniques can be performed with a lateral opening-wedge or medial closing-wedge correction of the deformity. Fixation methods for lateral opening-wedge osteotomies ...
متن کاملMedial Closing-Wedge Distal Femoral Osteotomy with Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Imbrication for Genu Valgum with Lateral Patellar Instability
A varus-producing distal femoral osteotomy (DFO) is an effective technique for the treatment of lateral patellar instability (LPI) in patients with concomitant moderate to severe valgus malalignment. Patellar maltracking and subluxation are corrected via neutralization of some of the laterally directed forces on the patella due to the valgus deformity. This can be accomplished with a distal fem...
متن کاملThe Results of Biplanar Distal Femoral Osteotomy; A Case Series Study
Background: Distal femur wedge osteotomies for varus or valgus alignment of the lower extremity could be done in either uniplanar or biplanar fashion.Union time and stability of the osteotomy site has been considered important in this anatomic region. In this study, clinical and radiographic findings of biplane distal femur osteotomy were reported. Methods: Clinical, functional, and radiologic...
